The address of this
150 m² apartment reflects the young spirit of the couple who live there:
Battersea , the
London neighborhood (England) where the city's former power station is located. The iconic building now houses a shopping mall and, around it, there are several modern and new buildings.
The property, despite being new, was designed by architect
Andrea Chicharo – from
CASACOR Rio – who made specific renovations and adapted the
layout to the residents' routine. "Since the apartment is not very big and has some very angular rooms, such as the
living room , we did a project that took advantage of all the possible spaces, including a lot of carpentry because they needed a lot of storage space," she says.
All the lighting was designed by Andrea, who also created a small plaster wall (only 1.5 m) to provide a certain amount of privacy in the living room, as the room was fully integrated into the
kitchen .
The
TV room – which is connected to the social area through a built-in door – ended up becoming a mix of
home office and guest room, as the second bedroom had to take on a new function: to welcome the couple's first daughter, who became pregnant during the renovation.
The
master suite has a
boho-chic feel, with natural tones and more organic furniture designs. The walk-in closet has been enlarged. And an area of the hallway has been used to create a narrow closet for storing shoes and bags.
In the decor, the
contemporary style of the building was softened with the use of
ceramic pieces, woven fabric cushions, varied textures and earthy tones that help to give the property a
more rustic feel – also creating a certain contrast with the buildings in the industrial district of the surrounding area. The large buildings can be seen from the large glass windows present in many of the rooms.
"They didn't want anything too
clean . So we opted for more natural textures and colors to create lighter, more welcoming environments," concludes Andrea.
