Fazendinhando - a movement for territorial regeneration with cultural, educational and social development in Jardim Colombo - participates in the
Janelas CASACOR project, São Paulo edition , with the
Fazendinhando Gallery , located in Jardim Colombo itself. The project was conceived by the architect and social urban planner Ester Carro, by architect Veronica Vacaro and the architecture studio Plantar Ideias. It is intended for the creativity of artists in the region and will be a permanent cultural center.
A dynamic gallery
Inside, five rotating modules were installed, allowing for various layouts and exhibition configurations. This versatility means the space can host everything from performances to films and exhibitions.
The ceiling and floor are mirrored, reflecting the works and creating an infinite effect. Those who observe the pieces have the sensation of looking at a display window that extends up and down. This reflection is also used to enhance the natural light. “We had some challenges. One of them was the small area of the container, and for this we used two main elements - the mirror and the light - that transform the space, that break the constructed limits, expand, warm and deceive. The idea was to create almost a screen in white where the protagonist is always the art on display”, says architect Veronica Vacaro.
She also explained the reasons that led to the choice of the location for implementation. “We worked a lot on the concept of urban acupuncture and tactical urbanism, and that is why we chose the entrance of the community to receive the project. In this way, we created a new public space, new flows and new spaces for staying. A welcome sign gives identity and pride to the community, and by painting the pavement we connect this space with Parque Fazendinha, creating an even larger intervention area”. The container also functions as a “flashlight” point and reference, since the area lacks urban public lighting.
Outside, wooden panels with an irregular design create dynamics and rhythm in the surroundings. The cheerful and colorful landscaping completes the atmosphere full of imagination. Felipe Stracci, from the Plantar Ideias studio, explains how it was conceived: "You have to understand that, as it is an urban garden, it needs a lot of resilience. We focused on creating an urban garden, that is, an interactive garden."
The plants chosen were the snake plant, rosemary, rue and lantana, a small flower. "The vegetable garden has a dual function. It brings in insects and birds, like hummingbirds, for example. We plant lantanas because the birds and butterflies really like it. And there's also the issue of the scent, which brings a feeling of well-being." The green roof is intended to provide thermal comfort to the container.
Art that transforms
Ester hopes that this seed of social change will grow and flourish, breaking paradigms and reducing social injustice. “I hope that transformations will happen in many places in Colombo and beyond! It is important that people value what exists within their communities, “We need to get rid of stereotypes. We can’t continue in a world where the same people always have opportunities.” According to the architect, art and the gallery were “an incentive for women in the community to fight for their dreams.”
About Fazendinhando
For those who don't know,
Fazendinhando started at the end of 2017 with the mission of transforming a landfill into a park, since the community doesn't have any common green areas, starting the construction of Parque Fazendinha. The park, still under construction, already provided , in addition to the common area, activities for residents. In addition to the park, new projects emerged in 2020, such as Fazendeiras and Fazendolar.
The first will prepare women from Jardim Colombo to work in the kitchen and construction industry, promoting entrepreneurship and income generation, and the second will connect students of architecture, engineering, design and related areas with Jardim Colombo, registering their contact details. with the community through drawings, photographs, videos, texts, poems, thus integrating the formal city with the informal city.
