The Himba are known for applying otjize , a mixture of animal fat and red minerals, to their skin and hair, a tactic used to protect them from the intense desert climate. This practice, in addition to being useful for survival, sets them apart from other ethnic groups and expresses their spiritual connection to the land, reflecting the identity of this people who are the last semi-nomadic people in Africa. It was from these characteristics that Gabriel was inspired to create the project that does not go unnoticed by any visitor . The earthy colors , natural textures and geometric patterns inspired by Himba art create a striking atmosphere. The plants native to the region, chosen for their hardiness and adaptation to arid conditions, symbolize the resilience of the tribe and add a deep meaning to the space.

The materials were selected based on sustainable criteria, such as certified wood, ecological coatings and paints with low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. The choice of natural ventilation systems and efficient lighting ensures comfort and energy efficiency, in addition to having carbon offset certification and a sustainability seal from Pachamama.
This bathroom celebrates African ancestry and connection with nature, highlighting the richness and wisdom of Afro-descendant roots that are intrinsic to the history of the Brazilian people .
