Photographer André Nazareth is a veteran of
CASACOR Rio :
2021 marks his eighth participation, capturing the spaces of the Rio de Janeiro show . This year, however, something different caught his attention: the original architecture of the
Palacete Brando Barbosa . “The unique spaces of the house made the architects adapted to the environments that already existed. This created an interesting unity in the route inside the mansion”, he explains.

From this observation, the idea of photographing the different ways in which the projects are integrated was almost a natural path. “One characteristic of this
CASACOR is the curiosity that the house awakens in wanting to discover what the next space is like,” he says. As is almost always the case, the passages are marked by doors,
the series of photos was named “Between Doors” .
More than dividing spaces, doors also serve as frames for cutouts of projects and the external landscape, transforming them into living paintings.

Original architectural details of the house - such as stained glass windows and arches - were also explored by CASACOR professionals, further enhancing these transition areas.

“This year, the environments were designed within the pandemic and with the new needs of living and relating in mind. I think that a good part of the spaces managed to express themselves within this context, sometimes bringing green with a whole tree inside the bathroom like Beto Figueiredo’s, or an environment that can be revamped like Gisele Taranto’s Espaço Mutante”, concludes André.
