The art of coloring threads to decorate spaces dates back to ancient Greece, and continues to be used on the walls of medieval castles to this day. For centuries, tapestries have been a way of demonstrating elegance, luxury and beauty in both homes and large public works. The presidential palace in Abidjan, the Sydney Opera House, the airports in Munich and New York, and in Brazil, MASP and the Palácio do Planalto all feature famous tapestries.
For this reason, this historical technique of adornment could not be left out of CASACOR ’s spaces. In 2017, the team of professionals showed how up-to-date tapestries are and how they can be used to add charm and personality to spaces. Architect Ângela Roldão – who designed the beautiful Ginger Bar at CASACOR Minas Gerais 2017 – explained that tapestries are a complex resource that needs to be well-crafted, but that can yield sensational results. “Tapestries, due to the material they are made of, accumulate dust. If they are placed in spaces where people have allergies, it probably won’t be good. However, if they are good, they add a lot of value to the space, like a good work of art. And they add refinement!”
Check out the CASACOR environments that are covered in tapestry.
