The trend towards
increasingly smaller homes has brought with it a reality that is already present in the
layout of many properties in large urban centers: the
integration of spaces . In addition to thinking about the decoration of integrated spaces, some more practical issues need to be taken into consideration,
especially in the kitchen . The
kitchen is where a variety of foods are prepared and, while there are some very tasty aromas that come from this environment, some foods, such as
fried foods, fish and fats, tend to give off an
unpleasant odor . This is when
having a good range hood makes all the difference. In order to clarify all doubts about the
choice, installation and functionality of the perfect model for each project,
Mueller , a Brazilian company specialized in home appliances, has gathered certain tips to help in the process. Check it out!
Hood width
Marcela Pretti e Rosana Rampazzo - Cozinha Original Deca. (Camila Santos/CASACOR)
The hood must be
wider than the stove , as the appliance needs to
cover all the burners and thus suck in all the “dirty” air and grease droplets to
filter and clean the air.
Check the air outlet

(Esdras Guimarães/CASACOR)
It is a good idea to check the structure to ensure that there are no
plumbing or conduits that could be damaged when positioning the device on the wall.
Hood height
Luiz Marcel e Jota Lisboa - il cuore della casa. Projeto da CASACOR Sergipe 2022. (Gabriela Daltro/CASACOR)
Regarding the height (distance between the hood and the stove or
cooktop ), Mueller recommends that there be between
65 and 75 cm of distance . Another recommendation is that the hood be installed on a
masonry wall .
Ensure that carbon filters are installed

Many hoods are sold with a
purifier mode , and in these cases, it is recommended that the
carbon filters are properly installed, as they are what allow the
air to be filtered and sent back to your kitchen
properly free of grease .
