A growing trend in the world of interior design, and present at CASACOR Brasília 2023 , affective decoration goes beyond simply choosing beautiful furniture and pleasant colors for a room. Here, the goal is to create spaces that reflect the personality and stories of the people who live there , making it truly unique and meaningful. One of the main characteristics of affective decoration is the appreciation of objects and elements that hold special meanings for the residents. These can be family heirlooms, personal collections, souvenirs from travels, gifts from dear friends or any item that has sentimental value . They do not need to be expensive or extravagant, but they should evoke positive memories and emotions . In the 31st edition of the show, this trend appears in several of the 49 environments set up at the Arena BRB Mané Garrincha and in different formats and customizations. There are letters, family photographs, crochet, silverware and crockery collections, hand drawings, vintage furniture, old records and other ornaments that reflect the individuality of the residents, their hobbies or personal interests. In the Morada Beija-Flor space , designed by HC Arquitetura , architects Rick Hudson, André Tavares, Isabella Silva and Matheus Guimarães created a beach house that pays homage to a couple of friends. In addition to items that tell a little about the lives of those who live there, such as the framed birth certificate of the great-grandmother of one of the honorees, the professionals explored collective memories to create an environment of warmth and affection. In the kitchen , for example, the chairs around the table are all of different designs , reminiscent of the classic "grandma's house", where chairs from different family members are popularly gathered together and stored away throughout life.

To bring history to the space, for example, some of the lawyer's favorite Brazilian literary works are spread across the office desk next to a 1960s typewriter and an old edition of the Portuguese Language dictionary protected by acrylic. Whether in the kitchen, living room, office or bedroom, affective decoration is concerned with creating spaces that promote well-being and emotional comfort. This means choosing colors, textures and materials that convey feelings of warmth and security , creating an environment where the people in that home feel welcomed.
