The businesswoman has been living alone in this
200 m² apartment, located in Praia da Boa Viagem, in Recife, since her son left home. With the intention of creating a permanent home, she commissioned architects
Ana Moura and Ana Higino , from the
Ana Moura Ana Higino Arquitetura office, and a team from
CASACOR Pernambuco , to design a timeless project, prioritizing her own comfort and needs, and still capable of meeting the needs of the large family she usually receives at home.

The project was based on the client's desire to
integrate the kitchen with the living room , as she wanted to see the sea while cooking and to entertain friends and family in a large, integrated space. To achieve this, the architects demolished the bathroom and pantry and created a pantry integrated with the kitchen on one side and the dining room on the other.

“We looked for solutions to
make the most of the sea view , such as covering the wall behind the dining table with
mirrored panels , using
sliding doors that allow for the integration and expansion of spaces, when necessary, and adopting a
palette of light and neutral colors and finishes as the basis for the décor, which also helped to highlight the
client's art collection ,” explains Ana Higino.

The new bathroom and pantry were placed where the old pantry used to be. “The original layout was very compartmentalized into small rooms, which compromised the sense of spaciousness that the client was looking for,” she adds.

In terms of decor, practically everything is new, with the exception of the two gray leather sofas, positioned side by side in front of the TV. Most of the artwork was already part of the resident's collection, except for the giant canvas by artist
Marcelo Solá (supported on the floor, between the two
Mole armchairs, by Sergio Rodrigues ) and the two canvases by artist
José Patrício (on a glass bench, near the dining room), which were acquired during the renovation.
In terms of color palette, materials and finishes, the
white Piguês marble flooring had already been in the apartment for over 10 years and was maintained. The architects simply added the same material to the areas where demolitions were carried out, such as the kitchen and bathroom, to standardize everything.

The kitchen floor was finished in off-white porcelain tiles with a matte finish. The wooden panel covering one of the living room walls brought a welcoming feel and harmonized with the free-standing furniture.

The kitchen has become one of the resident's favorite spaces, with a lunch table and a cabinet that functions as a glass cabinet (with glass doors and lighting from the inside). The metal structures above the counter, with a matte white lacquer finish, add a modern and industrial touch to the space.

At the client’s request, the master suite features a walk-in closet and two super spacious and bright bathrooms. “We demolished two walls of the original closet to enlarge the current one, which now has plenty of space, including for her to store her handbag collection,” says the architect.
