There is no shortage of space in the
living room designed by architect
David Bastos , from DB Arquitetos, at the 37th edition of
CASACOR SP . The generous 173
m2 of living room are part of a large apartment, designed on the first floor so that visitors can experience a complete residence. “The '
Living Room ' celebrates human ancestry, with a new perspective on the world, blending the classic minimalist style with more modern and urban elements, with our clients' children in mind,” summarizes the architect.
The space is divided into two living areas, a lounge and a bar , breaking with the traditional idea of a living room. The living room ceiling is a highlight in itself, displaying the original ribbed slab and metal conduits of the Conjunto Nacional, contrasting with floating polished brass sheets that create a visual effect of movement by reflecting the light. " Sustainability is present throughout the project, especially due to the limited use of civil construction elements, since the idea was to make the most of the existing facilities of the listed building ", highlights Bastos. The heart of the project is undoubtedly the multicolored panel measuring 16 meters wide by 2 meters high, created by international artist Fefe Tavalera in partnership with Miki Shimosakai. Inspired by five orishas from Yoruba mythology – Oxum, Iansã, Iemanjá, Obá and Oxumaré – the mural is a fusion of art and ancestry that adds an explosion of color and meaning to the space. In addition to the mural, the space displays other notable works of art , such as the series "Carroça - Até onde a vista acelera" (Cart - As far as the eye can see), by artist Maxim Malhado, and a pair of iron Exu sculptures, created by Mario Cravo Jr. These pieces, together with the neutral decor in shades of gray , sand and off-white , create a visual balance that highlights the art without overwhelming the environment.
