In recent years, the use of dark colors in decoration has ceased to be an exception and has become a choice of style and depth. They appear in projects that bet on sensory experiences and visual strength as a way to convey coziness and sophistication. In the CASACOR exhibitions, this palette appears in different interpretations: sometimes urban and contemporary, sometimes poetic and affectionate.

Common to them is the dominion of light and texture—elements that reveal the beauty of contrast and the capability of intense tones to transform any space. Below, we have gathered 12 projects from different Brazilian states that stand out for the use of dark colors.

Black Studio – Luiz Sentinger (CASACOR SC | Florianópolis)

The Black Studio was born from the desire to create impact and break with the conventional. Instead of whites and wood tones, black predominates in the walls, furniture, and surfaces. The contrast with the original building's white retro tiles reinforces the contemporary and bold character of the project, which transforms dark colors into protagonists of the composition.

Governor's Office – Hertha Dantas (CASACOR Sergipe)

Inspired by the urban layout of 1855, the Governor's Office revisits the history of Aracaju through textures and volumes. Black, applied to the walls and furniture, contrasts with earthy tones that refer to the land and origin. The dark colors here represent maturity and rooting, translating the symbolic essence of the space.

Youth Refuge – Rafaella Bittencourt Architecture (CASACOR Pernambuco)

At the Youth Refuge, the theme “Sow Dreams” comes to life in a room that reflects the energy of youth. The combination of dark colors with warm tones and focused lighting creates a dynamic and cozy environment. The result is a space that unites art, technology, and sensitivity in perfect harmony.

Urban Refuge – Isa Ribeiro (CASACOR Sergipe)

Designed for a resident with a contemporary spirit, the suite of the Urban Refuge invites relaxation and introspection. The palette of dark neutral tones, combined with natural materials, composes a calm and refined atmosphere. Here, dark colors are used to highlight serenity and well-being.

Dining Room – Amanda Rodrigues (CASACOR Ceará)

In the Dining Room, the interplay of shadow and light creates a sensitive narrative. The dark-toned woodwork and central table contrast with white stones and the shine of glass and metals. The dark colors define the base of the project, allowing the lighting to reveal textures and memories poetically.

House Recipe – Ramiro Mendes (CASACOR Ceará)

Inspired by the affectionate kitchens of grandmothers, the House Recipe combines memory and design in a cozy atmosphere. The dark woodwork contrasts with natural light, revealing a scenario of affections. The dark colors reinforce the welcoming character and the discreet elegance of the space.

Roots and Wheels – Jeane Silva Interiors (CASACOR Florianópolis)

In the project Roots and Wheels, the garage is reinterpreted as a living space. With dark-toned walls and furniture, the project gains remarkable volume and sophisticated aesthetics. Bathroom Entrenós – Rodrigo Porto Architects (CASACOR Ceará)

The Bathroom Entrenós unites functionality and sensory experience. Black dominates the doors and walls, contrasting with the vibrant tones of the flowers on the wallpaper on the ceiling. Home Cinema – Jéssica Aguiar (CASACOR Ceará)

In the Home Cinema, organic shapes soften the presence of dark colors, creating an immersive scenario. The neutral palette with contrasts in black and gray gives depth and comfort, ideal for moments of rest and socializing. Moreover, indirect light highlights the sophisticated and serene aspect of the project.

Tickets First Page – Edney Evangelista (CASACOR Sergipe)

The Tickets First Page is a waiting room that invites reflection. The dark walls, ceiling, and woodwork create an introspective environment and a dialogue between art and literature. The shades of black and gray enhance the feeling of welcome and transform the space into a scenario of cultural contemplation.

From Fire to Steel – Marcelo Franco (CASACOR Ceará)

In From Fire to Steel, the visual narrative is driven by dark colors. Walls, ceiling, and furniture in gray refer to steel and the stages of the creative process. Minimal lighting and metallic texture reinforce the experimental character of the project, transforming it into a sensory journey.

Poet's Refuge – Reinaldo and Larissa Simões (CASACOR Mato Grosso do Sul)

Inspired by the work of Manoel de Barros, the Poet's Refuge transforms the garage into a space for contemplation. The dark marble and soft lighting create an introspective and poetic atmosphere. The dark colors give body to the delicacy and depth that characterize the spirit of the project.
