La Rous Studio - Eternum Vitae. The 30 m² room aims to rescue ancestry through traces left in nature – such as fossils, textures, flowers, and minerals – and attributes from the trajectory of architect Larissa Perna's office, which moves between Spain and São Paulo. All in a blend of mid-century references with contemporary trends. The irregular slabs of Bahia beige travertine (originating from Chapada Diamantina) represent Brazil, while the vaulted ceiling alludes to the arches of Barcelona, where the studio was founded. The decorating style is not just an aesthetic choice — it is a way to express who you are in the spaces you inhabit. Colors, shapes, textures, and furniture reveal much about your personality, your pace of life, and even your memories. When your home reflects your characteristics, everything flows more naturally: from daily functions to the sense of welcome. However, more important than following trends is knowing how to listen to your own taste and understand what feels good to you. Choosing a decorating style is an exercise in self-knowledge — and it can (and should) be light and enjoyable! Practical tips to discover your style

Before choosing a decorating style, observe how you live and what you truly enjoy.

Observe your wardrobe and routine

Your clothes, accessories, and daily preferences say a lot about your style. Those who prefer basic, neutral, and comfortable pieces may be enchanted by more minimalist decorations. On the other hand, those who like prints, vibrant colors, and sentimental objects may feel more comfortable in more expressive and creative projects.

Create a reference folder

Save images that attract you, even if they do not seem "useful" at that moment. Over time, you’ll be able to identify patterns: color palettes, types of furniture, arrangement of objects. This helps to more clearly recognize your decorating style. Think about the function of the spaces

Decoration is also practical. If you work from home, enjoy cooking, or have children, these factors should be considered. The style needs to align with your routine — and not disrupt it!

Experiment gradually

Instead of transforming your entire home all at once, try small changes: a painted wall, a new piece of furniture, a decorative object. This way, you test the desired style without big commitments and gradually notice what really pleases you.

Respect your limits

Budget, time, and energy are important factors. It won’t always be possible to implement all ideas at once — and that’s okay! Your home can be built slowly, respecting your own rhythms and resources.

Main decorating styles to know

There are various styles in interior design, and many of them can mix. Knowing some of the most popular ones helps to sharpen your eye and make more conscious decisions.

Minimalist

Based on simplicity, the minimalist style values clean, functional spaces with few objects. Neutral colors, straight lines, and organization are hallmarks of this visual that conveys lightness and tranquility. [img class="size-full wp-image-197680" src="https://cdn.assets-casacor.tec.br/file/casacor-images-news/2025/05/25-Natan-Gil-Carolina-Mossin-02-1.webp?quality=90&strip=info" border="0" alt="Natan Gil Architecture - Loft Whispers of the Mountains. Scandinavian

Very similar to minimalism but with a cozier touch. The Scandinavian style uses light tones, light wood, blankets, plants, and natural light. Ideal for those seeking comfort and practicality.

Industrial

Inspired by warehouses and factories, the industrial style bets on exposed structures, concrete, metal, and robust furniture. It’s great for those who enjoy an urban and bold visual. [img class="size-medium wp-image-163289" src="https://cdn.assets-casacor.tec.br/file/casacor-images-news/2024/02/gabriela-prado-ape-industrial-140-m2-jardim-cactos-kadu-lopes-10.webp?resize=300,200" border="0" alt="Gabriela Prado designs an industrial apartment of 140 m² with a cactus garden. Contemporary Classic

Merges the elegance of classic style with current elements. Furniture with sophisticated design, neutral colors, and noble materials often appear. It suits those looking for a balance between tradition and modernity. [img class="size-full wp-image-197720" src="https://cdn.assets-casacor.tec.br/file/casacor-images-news/2025/05/31-Ana-Maria-Vieira-Santos-Roberta-Gewehr-DSC04631-1.webp?quality=90&strip=info" border="0" alt="Ana Maria Vieira Santos - Loft. Modern Rustic

Valuing natural materials like wood, stone, and fibers, modern rustic is perfect for those who want to bring nature indoors, with a current and cozy reading. [img class="size-full wp-image-113005" src="https://cdn.assets-casacor.tec.br/file/casacor-images-news/2021/09/toca-arquitetura_estc3badio-elc3a3_casacor-rio-2019-andre-nazareth.webp?quality=90&strip=info" border="0" alt="Studio Elã. Combination of styles and changes over time

It is common for people not to identify with a single style — and there’s nothing wrong with that. Mixing references, family heirlooms, design pieces, and sentimental objects is a way to make your home even more authentic. The key is to maintain a visual coherence: repeating colors, materials, or shapes helps create unity, even with different proposals. [img class="size-full wp-image-199144" src="https://cdn.assets-casacor.tec.br/file/casacor-images-news/2025/06/Captura-de-Tela-2025-06-06-as-15.42.34.webp" border="0" alt="Maurício Arruda - Coral House – Colors of the Park. Project by CASACOR São Paulo 2025." data-image-title="" data-image-source="CASACOR" /> Moreover, the chosen decorating style can evolve over time. Sometimes, a phase in life calls for more lightness; at other times, it's time to dare. By allowing your home to accompany these transformations, you keep the connection between space and identity alive.
