Skylights: understand why you should have one at home!
Imagine being at home and feeling the sun invading the room in a natural way? That's the magic of skylights, an architectural detail that transforms any space. Simply put, a skylight is an opening made in the ceiling that is usually filled with glass or acrylic, bringing natural light into the home, reducing the need for artificial lighting. Some of the best-known models are: flat, tubular, pyramidal, dome, atrium and shed.

This element is gaining more and more ground in modern architecture, and it's not hard to see why. The first and perhaps greatest advantage is the natural lighting. It illuminates rooms in a unique way, creating a feeling of warmth and well-being. Environments that would normally be dark, such as bathrooms without windows or narrow corridors, are transformed. Some options even allow for partial or total opening, which helps with cross-ventilation. And in addition to the aesthetic function, it also helps to save energy, since for a good part of the day you can keep the lights off and take advantage of the sunlight, which even helps with the growth and maintenance of interior plants. It's a practical, sustainable solution that's good for your pocket.

Another point that is enchanting about skylights is the connection they create with the outdoors, especially in houses surrounded by nature. On rainy days, for example, the sound of the drops hitting the glass brings a relaxing, almost therapeutic sensation. It's like having a little piece of nature inside your home, without sacrificing comfort. And if you think that skylights only work in large, luxurious homes, you're wrong. It's an excellent solution for small spaces too. The light that enters through the opening enlarges the space, leaving everything more open and airy.

In spite of this, installing a skylight requires attention to a few details, such as thermal insulation and choosing quality materials to avoid problems such as leaks or excessive heat. And yes, from time to time you will need to clean the glass or acrylic, because accumulated dirt and dust can compromise the beauty of the effect. But with a good project and trained professionals, these challenges become easily manageable, making it worth the investment in this temporal, beautiful and super functional element.
