CASACOR SP: accessible materials with new status at Casa Berilo
Studio ro+ca challenges the gaze of visitors to CASACOR São Paulo 2019, using common materials with a cool and sophisticated vision. The result is Casa Berilo Leroy Merlin, the professionals' second project with the brand and their debut at CASACOR São Paulo . The first was at CASACOR Rio de Janeiro in 2018. But why Casa Berilo? The name comes from the stone that symbolizes creativity and new beginnings: these are the pillars of Studio ro+ca for each project. In addition, beryl is a mineral with many derivatives - among them, emerald, which inspires the intense green applied to the walls and ceiling. The stone only becomes precious after a lot of work, and this was the inspiration for the professionals. To transform a simple and raw material into a jewel, an object of desire.

“Following our project, we selected several materials during visits to Leroy Merlin that had potential. They were all there, being sold in the store, but without much prominence”, says Carlos Carvalho, from Studio ro+ca. Among the items he refers to are the industrial-style Hollywood lamps. They were transformed into pendants with the help of lighting specialist Maneco Quinderé. In a theatrical style, each one houses six lamps of different sizes.

The Tina armchair, designed by architect Carlos Carvalho, from Studio ro+ca, is the star of the project. The piece will be launched in August 2019.

To define a young and cool atmosphere, free from concepts, the option was to mix raw materials with sophisticated, cheap and expensive items. Works of art and signed design with affordable objects, in an interesting composition. Everything balanced in the same space, with a result aligned with the high-low spirit.

The fitted kitchen was chosen from Leroy Merlin, contrasting with the 5x5 white tiles. “It’s a material we really like, which has inspiring graphics,” says Carlos. On the floor, vinyl combines simple installation and durability.

Even the living room shelf came from the home center , enhancing the project with a clean design.

Another material that served as a starting point was screened gravel. With its rough appearance, it creates a sophisticated mix on the back wall. The covering continues into the bedroom and bathroom.

The rustic and natural texture of the screened gravel contrasts with the bedroom's pink headboard. Another delicate and contemporary touch is the gold pendant.
The professionals also saw potential in glass bricks, transforming the bathroom into a box full of natural light. The construction method here is steel frame, also from Leroy Merlin. “We opted for this environmentally friendly, quick and clean alternative,” explains Rodrigo. Béze, from Studio ro+ca.
