CASACOR Rio de Janeiro will open the decoration calendar in 2021
This will be a CASACOR that is different from previous editions. In addition to having pre-scheduled visits and limiting the number of people per room, following the protocols of the World Health Organization, the idea is to hold a hybrid exhibition: in-person and digital. In the in-person edition, the focus will be the experience of visiting the home that in itself arouses the public's curiosity. For digital, new formats will be explored that increase the visibility of professionals and suppliers and promote online debates. “We believe that this mix of digital and in-person is here to stay and that , increasingly, CASACOR Rio will gain national and international scope”, adds Patrícia Quentel, managing partner of the show.

A little history

The history of the property begins at the height of Brazilian coffee growing in Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century. The first building on the site was built by the Faro family, important coffee growers of the Empire, to be the headquarters of Fazenda da Floresta. With the Portuguese court already living there, In Brazil, the place was the scene of the first meetings between D. Pedro I and the Marquesa de Santos. Years later, it was the residence of the doctor and public health expert Oswaldo Cruz. Purchased by Jorge Brando a century after its construction, the 2,500 m² mansion was renovated in the 1950s to meet the couple's needs. Considered one of the most beautiful houses in Rio, during the mythical golden years it was the setting for parties with important figures from Rio society, national and foreign artists, politicians – such as President Juscelino Kubitschek – and foreign heads of state visiting the city. After CASACOR Rio , the Brando Barbosa Institute (IBB) will become a meeting place for those interested in art, culture and education. CASACOR Rio de Janeiro Service: 30th edition When?
