With
160 m² , the basement of this five-storey house, in Jardim Botânico (RJ), was designed by architects Carolina Escada and Patricia Landau, from
Escala Arquitetura and cast by
CASACOR Rio , exclusively for family leisure. “As the couple’s three children range in age from six to 14, the idea was to create a space where they could also receive friends,” says Carolina.

The children's fun begins on the
stairs leading to the basement, which has a slide on its side , made in carpentry. From there you can see a large social area with a TV and a guest
bedroom , with three sliding doors that go from floor to ceiling and allow you to isolate the space, when necessary.

At the back, the architects used a prism to create a
winter garden next to the play area, especially designed for the youngest daughter, aged 6. At the other end, a
covered terrace was created, with access to the hot tub and sauna . Access to the service area and employee quarters is through a door panel installed in the social sector.

“As the basement was designed for the whole family, we avoided colors that would make the space look like a toy room. Therefore, we use neutral and light tones at the base of the decor, following the same color palette in the social areas of the house, and we add touches of color in paintings, objects and cushions”, says Patricia.
The rack and bookcase in the guest suite were designed by the office and made in joinery, with a freijó finish. The floor is made of light gray porcelain tiles (like upstairs), the walls received a textured finish to bring more comfort to the environment and the carpet chosen is made of PVC yarn, which is easier to clean.

All the furniture is new and has a very casual look, such as the ottomans and the sofa with removable white twill cover. Among the signature design pieces, it is worth highlighting the Concrete coffee table (by
Estudiobola ), the Canguru desk (by
Isabela Vecci ), the Bossa pendant lamp (by
Fernando Prado ) and the Gota outdoor swing (by
Lattoog ).

Among the works of art, it is worth highlighting the sculpture Vale um Sorriso, by artist
Hugo de Leoni (supported on the floor and leaning against the pillar) and the painting by artist
Marcelo Solá (above the sofa).
