A couple with twin children lived in an
apartment and, during the pandemic, felt the need to have an
outdoor area at home with a swimming pool and a gourmet balcony , equipped with a barbecue. After visiting some properties, they were enchanted by this house with a built area of
455 m² , with three floors, located in Alto de Pinheiros (SP), even though the pool was the size of a hot tub.

Then, the new owners called the architects
Bitty Talbot and
Cecília Teixeira , from the
Brise Arquitetura office, to carry out a complete renovation, making it clear that the priority was to enlarge the pool and create a gourmet area where the family could get together or receive friends and relatives, with pizza oven, ice machine, minibar, dining table for up to 10 people and TV.

The architects were not only able to fulfill the couple's wishes but also created a
second option for accessing the new leisure area, from outside the house, so that guests did not need to pass through the living room.

The social area was
entirely compartmentalized in the original plan, with several small rooms that were demolished to create
a large, wider and more fluid space , with the
living , dining and TV areas now fully integrated.

The
kitchen was expanded towards the old pantry (previously isolated) and is now connected to the dining room by a sliding door. Finally, the old dining room became the current
TV room, which gives access to the gourmet area, and the original masonry fireplace was replaced by a model suspended from the ceiling, which runs on gas.

On the second floor, the wall that separated the children's bedrooms was demolished and, in its place, closets were allocated, thus freeing up
more circulation space . In the couple's
suite , the
closets were reduced and redesigned to
increase the bedroom area and the bathroom, which was already large and was completely renovated to take on the feel of a bathroom.

In the decoration, almost everything is new. Only the Mole armchair (by
Sergio Rodrigues ) and many decorative objects were used from the old address. In furniture, the architects prioritized
light, modern and timeless pieces that could accompany the family for a long time. The colors of the decorations and cushions were taken from the polyptych in multicolored stripes by the artist
Solferini , highlighted in the living room.

The social door was painted in a shade of green that matches the color of the facade and influenced the choice of leather for the Orquídea chairs (by
Rejane Carvalho Leite ) in the dining room. In the TV room, a sofa by
Carbono Design was upholstered with denim blue canvas, making the environment more relaxed and cheerful, in total harmony with the blue and off white striped rug, by
By Kamy , and the two colorful paintings by the artist
Will Sampaio .

In the kitchen, at the client's request, all cabinets were
finished in green lacquer to make the environment happier. On both floors, the original wooden floor was maintained and revitalized and completed in areas where walls were demolished – with the exception of the kitchen and bathrooms, which gained
porcelain flooring in a burnt cement pattern .

The carpentry was all designed by the office – from the pivoting boards that divide the entrance hall from the dining room to the living room bookcase, including the wall panels, the sideboard, the dining table, the children's beds, the headboards and all cabinets (including the kitchen).

“Designing all of the house’s carpentry was essential to
imprint the client’s personality and taste into the project and make the environments more functional and practical for the family’s day-to-day life”, says architect Cecília Teixeira.
