If in the 1950s family members would gather in the living room after dinner to listen to the news of the day in front of the television, today everyone gathers with cell phones and tablets in their hands, but worried about future situations such as a work meeting in the morning. following or in some social media post. The body is there, but the head is not.

Melina Mundim's environment for CASA COR Minas 2015 came to break this current logic of coexistence by presenting a space without any electronics and with a great diversity of living spaces. A place capable of bringing people together in the same place to experience the present and the presence of others.

The living room has several spaces that are ideal for reading a book by the fireplace, writing at the side desk, taking care of the plants in the vertical garden or catching up on the big sofa. The rustic and cozy atmosphere is created by several typical elements. Brazilians and even miners. A long eucalyptus tree forms the entire structure of the environment, which has gabion walls and a wooden floor and ceiling.

The Brazilian atmosphere is also represented by the vertical garden of spatifiillus, which references the forests, and by objects such as the sisal rug and embroidered cushions and poufs. In addition, all the furniture is from national professionals, such as the coffee tables, made of wooden trunk and the crystal pendant made of rock.

One of the highlights is the alcohol fireplace. Despite using iron in its construction, which is a heavy material, its design manages to give the space a light feel.

The living room also celebrates the Minas Gerais heritage. Above the sofa, a photograph of Belo Horizonte by Rodrigo Tozzi recalls the beauty of the land. And the local embroidery by Minas Gerais artist Cyra Lobo is reminiscent of the always rich and joyful craftsmanship.
