The Aruan Cabin marks the fifth participation of architect Camila Maia Brito in CASACOR Bahia , highlighting its commitment to architecture inspired by the cultural and natural traditions of Brazil. In 60 m², the space pays homage to the women of Chapada Diamantina , portrayed by photographer Alexandre Augusto, whose strength and resilience served as inspiration to create a space that celebrates resistance and connection with nature. Stones, the central elements of the project, symbolize solidity, while the organically designed furniture evokes harmony between human beings and nature. Objects created by the Pataxó indigenous village highlight the value of cultural traditions, enriching the space with earthy colors and materials such as MDF in the kitchen cabinetry, creating a refuge that conveys comfort and serenity. The dialogue between the Aruan Cabin and the Othon Palace Hotel , an icon of Bahian modernist architecture, is subtle but significant. Just as the hotel integrates with the Salvador coastline, the cabin emphasizes the fusion between the built space and nature. The project also reflects current trends such as biophilic design , using raw stones and organic shapes to reinforce the connection with the land. The appreciation of indigenous crafts , represented by the Pataxó pieces, reaffirms the importance of preserving cultural identity. The photographs of the women of Chapada Diamantina turn the space into a platform for social issues, using interior design as a means of raising awareness. The Aruan Cabin uses natural and durable materials , such as Beige Bahia marble, resin-coated granite and porcelain tiles, creating an authentic aesthetic with a focus on sustainability . Choices such as aluminum frames and slatted PVC lining ensure durability and a lower environmental impact, aligning the project with ecological design practices. In keeping with the theme “ The Present, the Now ,” the project celebrates the power of the present moment and the continuity of traditions that shape our identity. Camila Maia pays homage to the past and celebrates the present, where tradition and contemporaneity come together in an engaging narrative. Aruan Cabin invites visitors to connect with nature, reflect on their roots, and celebrate the present as a space for empowerment and transformation . Service – CASACOR Bahia 2024
