Brises on the facade are architectural solutions that combine solar control, thermal comfort, and aesthetic expression. When applied at the entrance of a house, they help regulate light incidence, protect internal projects, and enhance the architectural reading from the first contact.

In addition to their technical function, the brises on the facade contribute to the identity of the project. By creating layers, shadows, and visual rhythms, these elements establish a more balanced transition between the street and the interior, reinforcing the sense of welcome and the relationship of the house with its surroundings.

Effect of brises on façades

The main effect of the brises on the facade is in the way they modulate light and heat. By controlling the direct solar incidence, they contribute to thermal comfort right from the entrance of the house, reducing excessive heating and creating naturally shaded areas. This protection reflects both internal well-being and the durability of materials.

Visually, the brises add depth to the facade. The play of solids and voids creates movement, transforms the reading of the volume, and reveals the architecture gradually. Throughout the day, the light draws mutable shadows, turning the entrance into a lively space that changes according to the sun and the weather.

Different styles of brises to invest in

The choice of brises on the facade can follow various paths, according to the style of the house, the local climate, and the aesthetic intention of the project. Each material and shape imbues a distinct atmosphere to the entrance.

Wooden brises

Wooden brises bring immediate warmth. With natural texture and warm tones, they harmonize well with projects that emphasize contact with the outdoors, gardens, and green areas. On the facade, wood softens volumes and creates a sense of shelter upon arrival.

Metallic brises

Metallic models typically appear on facades with a more urban and contemporary language. With fine lines and precise designs, they offer visual lightness and reinforce the geometry of the project. In neutral tones, the metallic brises on the facade act as an elegant filter, enhancing doors, lighting, and architectural volumes.

Horizontal brises

Widely used in facades with greater solar exposure, horizontal brises help control the entry of direct light, especially during the most intense hours of the day. At the entrance of the house, they create a continuous shadow and reinforce a more serene and balanced reading of the architecture.

How to choose the right brises for your facade

The selection of brises for the facade begins with the solar orientation and the climatic conditions of the location. Understanding where the sun comes from, at what times it shines most intensely, and how the house relates to the street is essential to define the type, spacing, and orientation of the brises.

Another fundamental point is the aesthetic coherence. The brises should relate to the rest of the architecture, with the facade materials, and with the project’s proposal. When well integrated, they cease to be an applied element and become part of the visual structure of the house, naturally and timelessly qualifying the entrance.
