The new phase of life for the couple with two children began with the purchase of a new
280 m² apartment in Alphaville (SP). And the dream only came true after a complete renovation led by architect
David Bastos , a professional from the
CASACOR SP cast.
“The clients wanted an
eclectic apartment , with a homely feel, with solid plank flooring made from reclaimed cinnamon wood,
boiseries -style wall panels and more modern works of art. We studied some hotels and restaurants outside Brazil, mainly in Paris and New York, and selected some iconic pieces of modern Brazilian
furniture and mixed them with contemporary European furniture and more modern works of art,” explains the architect.
- With the renovation, the main change to the layout was the removal of the window frames to integrate the living room and the balcony, which was enclosed with glass and now houses the new dining area. Another request from the couple was a generous wine
cellar , installed right at the entrance to the living room.
Furthermore, the original
kitchen was split into two (day-to-day and support), which connect to each other and to the gourmet space in front of the dining table, forming an extensive “gastronomic corridor”.
The decor is based on
soft, neutral colors , with touches of
gold, gray, caramel, black and wine , resulting in a sober palette that is at the same time calm and welcoming. Among the modern Brazilian furniture, David highlights the Oscar chairs (by
Sergio Rodrigues) in the dining room and the Jangada armchair (by
Jean Gillon ) in the TV room.
The protagonists of the social area are the European designer furniture, such as the curved sofa by
Massimo Castagna , the armchair
by Paola Navone and the caramel leather armchairs by
Piero Lissoni , the office chair by
Vico Magistretti , the glass coffee and side table by
Sebastian Herkner and the side tables for the home theater by
Antonio Citterio .
The dining table chandelier (
by Ronan and Erwan Bourollec ) and the floor lamp (by
Rick Tegelaar ) came from the Dutch company
Moooi . Among the works of art, the white wall sculpture by artist
Emanuel Araújo and the black and green painting above the sofa in the TV room by artist
Rodrigo Andrade are particularly noteworthy.
In addition to the designer furniture, the social area also features a huge, organically shaped rug that integrates the living and TV areas, as well as the stainless steel and glass wine cellar, which goes from floor to ceiling, has the capacity to store around 700 bottles of wine and also functions as a large divider between the living and dining areas.
