The new project by
Estúdio Guto Requena is a
hyper-connected home that prioritizes sustainable solutions and transforms an icon of modern São Paulo
architecture , dating back to 1962 and designed by Botti and Rubin, into a
flexible and
reconfigurable habitat. The apartment breaks with the traditional apartment configuration , which reproduced the so-called bourgeois tripartite division , which originated in France in the 18th century and divided houses into social, private and service areas. With a flexible layout , the project allows for the movement of walls or pieces of furniture, and involves active participation by the resident in its constant reconfiguration. In the Balcony Apartment , instead of designing a project based on rooms, such as the bedroom, living room and kitchen, we sought to design a house based on its activities , such as working, sleeping, eating, entertaining, taking care of clothes or relaxing. The result is a dynamic and interactive architecture , capable of accommodating different daily practices .
