This
1970s apartment , located in Brasília, needed renovation when architects Maria Araujo, Marina Zuquim and Marina Nunes, from the
Maria Araujo Arquitetura office – part of
CASACOR Brasília – were called to make repairs to the plumbing and electrical systems, as well as opening up new spaces in the layout.
The apartment's original wooden floor was completely restored and the beams and pillars were exposed, giving the property a
brutalist feel. An L-shaped panel made of natural sheet metal was also added to hide access to the
bedroom areas and allow for the
kitchen to be integrated.
The original layout, with three bedrooms, one of which was a suite, was replaced by a new one, with two bedrooms and an expanded living room, with large windows and excellent natural lighting.
The master suite has a walk-in closet and the second bedroom can be used as an office, TV room or even a guest room, playing a key role in the apartment.
In addition to this change, the old guest
bathroom was transformed into a suite and a new washroom was designed, covered in yellow, monochromatic and contemporary hydraulic tiles.
In the kitchen, the
cobogós allow for natural ventilation, while also integrating the dining room, which has indirect lighting, with specific light sources.
The furniture and decorative objects chosen by the office bring a Brazilian touch.
