When she bought a 130 m² apartment in Rio Claro (SP), the resident asked architect
Gustavo Marasca for a
spacious and bright project , with integrated spaces and a floor that was not too smooth, so that her dog would not slip.

The first changes were structural: the architect
demolished a bedroom to enlarge the living room, which in turn was integrated into the gourmet
balcony .

The guest bathroom was turned into a closet and the guest bathroom was turned into a powder room, with a shower cubicle hidden behind a pleated blind. The larger bedroom was transformed into the client's bedroom, while the smaller bedroom was turned into her
closet , with a
low sofa bed and
two access doors so that it can also be used as a guest room.

According to the professional, the main idea behind the project was
to cover the walls and ceiling with the same texture in a sand tone – and avoid using white to avoid making the rooms cold. In addition to bringing a bit of the Mediterranean atmosphere into the home, reinforced by the rounded corners on the ceiling, this finish made the rooms more welcoming, transmitting a sense of peace.

“
All the finishes are made of natural materials or materials with a similar appearance , both on the flooring, curtains and furniture. In the carpentry, we alternated shades of
off-white , terracotta and natural oak veneer”, he explains. In the decoration, the architect was able to use some pieces of furniture (such as the wooden armchair with a straw backrest in the living room) and accessories from the client’s previous residence, including books, vases and trays.

The dining room table is designed by
Estudiobola and the Olga chairs (upholstered in antique pink suede) are designed by
Henrique Schreiber . “Even the large painting A Boca do Mundo, by artist
Naira Penachi , is an explosion of colors and organic shapes that brings life and joy to the room,” reveals Marasca.

In the couple's bedroom, the highlights are the Disco side table, fixed to the ceiling (next to the bed), by designer
Bruno de Carvalho , and the Serena armchair, by
Estudiobola .

In the master bedroom, the highlight is the
headboard upholstered in fabric , a little higher than the traditional one, with LED lighting behind it. The curtain is made of natural fabric, with very open weaves and silk lining in the same tone, to create contrast and volume in the composition. “The ceiling lighting is also
completely indirect so as not to dazzle the eyes,” he explains.

In the kitchen integrated into the living room, the
counter with rounded corners and slatted exterior finish is striking, as are the colors of the cabinets, a combination of natural oak veneer and lacquer, which gave the space a cozy and modern feel. All the countertops and the
backsplash are made of beige Silestone.

In both bathrooms, the architect replaced the traditional cabinet under the sink with a
slatted column with rounded corners. To create storage space, he transformed the couple's bathroom mirror above the counter into a five-door cabinet.
