120 m² apartment brings back the brutalist style and features rustic materials
Designed for a young couple of lawyers, this apartment located in a suburban area of Rome favored the presence of natural elements and raw finishes to highlight the brutalist atmosphere that the residents desired.

The project was designed by the STUDIOTAMAT office, which took advantage of the large windows to bring in more ventilation and natural light. Named " Rude House ", the name does justice to the materials used, such as the reinforced concrete left exposed and not scraped from the pillars and beams that frame the living rooms.

“What guided us in the project was the desire to enhance the distinctive characteristics of the only building with a terrace, dating from the 1980s, which houses the apartment. We wanted to restore fluidity to the spaces, encourage openness and the rediscovery of materials,” explains architect Tommaso Amato, from STUDIOTAMAT.

The idea was to create sensorial environments , full of textures to bring more comfort to the residents . The clean and elegant lines balance the raw aspect of the coverings , such as the terracotta in the kitchen or the perforated brick wall.
To make the most of the large windows, the space behaves like a loft. The unfinished walls and continuous floors maintain the coherence of the project. The living room welcomes guests and deserves to be highlighted as a cozy space. The sofa is the star , in terracotta color, which contrasts with the gray of the walls.

The kitchen with an island covered entirely in terracotta and a countertop in Patagonian marble incorporates two reinforced concrete pillars inside.

The bedrooms are isolated to ensure greater privacy for the couple , protected by a pivoting door in perforated sheet metal that partially protects the corridor space – which connects the guest bedroom , the master suite and the bathrooms.

The project is a perfect mix between softness and brutality with contemporary touches reinforced by furniture and other interventions tailored for a balanced life.
