In this 200 m² apartment, located in Ipanema (RJ), architect
Vivian Reimers integrated the kitchen with the social areas to bring more fluidity to the property. Between design and construction, everything was completed in approximately eight months.
The owners are a couple with three adult children who live abroad. One of the priorities in the project was to have four
bedrooms that would offer comfort and privacy for each member of the family.
"Since it wasn't possible to get four suites, we prioritized the couple's bedroom. For them, we designed a room with a private
bathroom and a large closet. Considering that the children are out of the house most of the time and to make the master suite more comfortable, we connected the room to a second bathroom that also functions as a walk-in shower," explains Vivian.
The main highlight of this project, without a doubt, is the social area. In the original project, the space allocated to the
kitchen was very small, compared to the living room and dining room. Furthermore, it lacked ventilation and natural lighting.
"Taking advantage of the fact that the owners love to cook and use this pleasure as an excuse to welcome friends into their home, we chose to work with a completely open kitchen integrated into the social area through the counter that serves as a preparation area and a place for meals," says Vivian.
The counter also connects with the bar furniture, visually enhancing the environment and serving as a support area for the dining room.
