Located on Rua da Moeda, close to Cais do Sodré in Lisbon, this apartment designed by Estúdio Obra Prima is located in a century-old building that recently underwent a retrofit process. In fact, the entire region has been revitalized – in 2017, the area underwent a process of requalification of public space and renovation of its central area.

Thus, the apartment was found in its original state when the architects took over the project, with wooden floors from the time of construction, walls with the same covering as the facade and original frames. Much of the original architecture was maintained in the renovation , but it was necessary to update certain elements to bring them up to date in the new design.

Upon entering, the hall welcomes you with a window that faces an external garden and invites you to enter its spacious double-height rooms . In the living room, highlights include works of art and Brazilian furniture by Jader Almeida , and the original Le Corbusier armchairs – which were restored, giving a touch of modernity to the space.

The kitchen was integrated into the living room , which required the professionals to knock down the wall between the spaces and plan an iron framed door in its place, allowing the spaces to merge and bringing more space to the apartment.
Still in the social area, a space for cigars was designed to welcome friends in comfort and classic style. On the wall, a neon sign references a Portuguese song. In fact, the lighting is one of the great highlights of the project, composed mainly of antique pieces , which are spread throughout the apartment and mimic the aesthetics of the property.

In the intimate area, the hallway that leads to the five bedrooms received natural wood joinery . A light palette and neutral tones mark the choice of furniture and coverings in the bedrooms and bathrooms. See more photos of Apto Moeda in the gallery below:
