The architecture firm
Estúdio Maré was approached by a young couple to renovate a
153 m² apartment located in the Vila Leopoldina neighborhood of São Paulo. “The clients came to us to renovate this new apartment delivered with the subfloor”, comments
Lívia Leite , an architect who runs the office. The aim of the project was not only to enhance the social area of the living room and kitchen - spaces highly valued by the couple - but also to give more
focus to the landscaping and bring an
industrial touch to the
décor .
The starting point for the renovation was to
expand the total area of the kitchen , which previously shared space with a
home office located between the living room and kitchen. “We expanded the space by
demolishing the masonry of the
home office and bringing the living room closer to the kitchen. kitchen so that the finishes chosen for the two environments complement each other”, explains the professional.
A large
Pitaya granite countertop was then installed alongside the wooden joinery and blue-gray details. In the living room, the same wood tone was applied to the natural wood floor to make the apartment more cozy and visually connect the spaces.
The highlight of the living room is the
suspended shelf , which spans the gap between the living room and the terrace and allows for more space to house
small vases - a request that was very popular with clients.
“For the bathroom, we created a
slatted panel that mimics the carpentry that
hides the entrance door and faces the apartment’s access door.” Inside, a navy blue tile was chosen to cover the floor and the half wall. carved tub.
In the couple's bedroom, the idea was to create a
light and
cozy space, which was materialized through the choice of wood and the sand tone of the
closet cabinet. The industrial effect was due to the bricks, which fill the upper part of the headboard. wide slats.
Burnt cement ,
marble and
wood were the materials chosen to enhance the couple's bathroom and make it more cozy.
The apartment also has a
special corner : “the client really likes to study music, so we created this space dedicated to that. Darker tones give the space the atmosphere of a
music studio ,” concludes Lívia.
