In search of more space and comfort for their family, a couple in their 40s with two daughters bought this 230 m² apartment in Humaitá, a neighborhood in the south of Rio de Janeiro. Before moving to the new address, the The new owners commissioned architects
Ricardo Melo and Rodrigo Passos to design a renovation project, stating at first that they wanted few changes. However, as the process progressed, they became excited and ended up opting to do a complete renovation of all the rooms. .

“Ultimately, the clients asked to integrate the
kitchen with the living room, completely changing its shape and, consequently, the service area. They also asked to solve a very complicated angled plan and have comfortable spaces for to receive friends, such as a bar and a balcony equipped with a barbecue, ice machine and beer cooler”, says Ricardo Melo. The duo is part of the
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro cast.

Wood also stands out in the space – it is present in the natural tauari floor, in the finish of the carpentry (some structures are mixed with iron) and in some of the furniture. “This room has a simplicity that reflects the Carioca style well. It is chic , but at the same time it is also stripped down, without pomp”, says Ricardo.
In the decor, which follows a contemporary style, many pieces were already part of the clients' collection, such as the sofa, the four bar chairs, the dining chairs in the living room and the dining table on the balcony. "In the bedrooms, almost everything was used from the other apartment. We just did some carpentry additions”, reveals Ricardo Melo.
