Modernizing two areas of an old
300 m² apartment was the request received by
Beatriz Quinelato 's architectural office. The couple with two children wanted to
expand the kitchen , integrating it into the pantry, and redesign the laundry room, including a large tank to facilitate the work routine.
The office's main challenge was to enlarge the kitchen because, although the apartment has a generous size,
this area was very small and separated from the pantry – which also had little space. The solution was to "steal" a part of the living room to create a perfect room, just the way the family wanted and, still,
with a country house feel . The covering included
irregular porcelain tiles on both the floor and walls, with organic shapes, resulting in a
very rustic look .
The
design of the joinery with moldings , designed by Florense, also provided this more bucolic
farmhouse atmosphere. Electronics were built in, as were two refrigerators and a dishwasher; which gave the cabinets a unity, a
sense of continuity , leaving everything hidden behind the joinery. "At the request of the owner, a large bench was placed in the center of the room, both to
organize and to
gather the family when preparing meals. To top it off, a large bowl was designed, a
farmsink model, and was great for the day to day in the kitchen", says Beatriz.
In the laundry room, the attractions were, without a doubt, the
large tank , also in
farmsink style, as well as the dog house, which was
fully integrated into the room .
