For a young couple with a young daughter, architect
Gabriela Mendes , head of the office that bears her name, invested in the classic style to carry out the project of the 140 m² apartment, located in São Paulo: the social and integrated area, as well as the intimate wing, combine a profusion of elements that led to the essence of the project to create a sophisticated and timeless home. In the living room, the large marble slab, positioned as a TV panel, symbolizes the refinement of hospitality and well-being. Following the configuration, the professional led the expression of classicism through the execution of expressive ceiling moldings, in the walls and skirting boards. “We proposed a project that combined classic and modern elements, which became a unique language in all the spaces,” explains the professional.
In the living room, the architect invested in bronze side mirrors and the lightness of the white, slatted rack. To promote spaciousness, the project modified the original layout by removing the window frame that divided the living room from the balcony. With more space, the environment received the ceiling structure and plaster moldings, which dialogue with the trims that adorn all the walls.
In terms of furniture, the arrangement of the pieces was chosen to reflect the profile of the couple who live there, who enjoy receiving guests at home. The original idea of arranging the sofa with two armchairs was complemented with a pouf next to the TV and a coffee table. which can also be used as a seat - this way, you can comfortably receive more guests.
The dining room was given a crystal chandelier - an installation that presented a challenge for the architect. “Due to the low ceiling, we carried out a study to position not only this one, but also the others that are present throughout the property, since we couldn't lose the aesthetics of the boiserie. The solution was to work only with a recess around the ceiling, leaving the center available for the piece”, he details.
Integrated into the living room, the balcony has become wider and more fluid. In the barbecue area, the round table in a beige tone with a cone base adds a touch of modernity to the receptions held by the couple. At the other end, the sofa and armchair set creates a relaxed space for entertaining.
In the
kitchen , the fendi color prevails in the carpentry that surrounds all the appliances, including the induction cooktop, oven, refrigerator and microwave. “I can't help but mention the design of the furniture, with these 'cushions' carved into the cabinet doors and drawers, which were finished with a golden handle”, he says.
In the
bathroom , the frames that decorate the walls painted in petroleum
blue contrast with the white marble countertop and floor.
In the couple's bedroom, there is a mix of gray, the moss green of the bedding and the gold details. In the children's bedroom and playroom, the predominant color is pink.
