When architect
Ana Cano 's family bought this
140 m² apartment in Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, she wanted to do a major renovation before moving in. "We fell in love with the incredible view and, even though we knew it would be a huge undertaking, we decided to go ahead and buy the property. We made the most of the space and the high ceilings – one of the highlights of the place. In addition to giving a feeling of spaciousness, it is perfect for meeting the needs of my husband, who is 2 m tall," says Ana.
The integration of spaces was a strategy adopted throughout the apartment to create a modern and bright atmosphere. Open to the
living room , the balcony is at treetop height and appears to be surrounded by a garden, complete with a barbecue.
Since the rooms were all closed and the spaces were small, the solution was to knock down all the walls, including the hall. This allowed the elevator to reach the house, which only has one apartment per floor.
The
kitchen was completely open to the living room and also connected to the dining room. Blue, everyone's favorite color, was the guiding thread of the project, which also includes furniture and family objects.
When designing her children's bedrooms, the architect-mother was careful to reflect each child's personality. With a very modern touch, the bedroom of her eldest son, aged 15, has
a burnt cement wall , a study table, shelves, a chest and black lighting rails. In addition to a study table and decorative elements, such as skateboards and metal plates from different countries and
toy art , which complement the décor.
In the second son's room, aged 11, blue appears once again, bringing more color to the space. The relaxed decor with fun paintings and musical instruments is complemented by a bed upholstered in gray faded canvas and
a red bedside table .
“With all these changes, we were able to accommodate and fulfill everyone’s wishes and create a sunny home, always open to loved ones!” says Ana excitedly.
