When it comes to the architecture of spaces, one of the most valued features is the presence of
double height ceilings . This is the distance between the floor and the ceiling, which is, on average, up to 3 meters high. When the length is greater, between
5 and 6 meters , the ceiling height is considered double.

Architect Letícia Nannetti, who designed the Olhar Essencial space at CASACOR São Paulo 2023, recommends always exploring double-height ceilings as a tool to connect the space with the external environment and nature to enable greater ventilation, lighting and thermal comfort . When you have a double-height ceiling, it is essential to create a vertical space. According to the architect, it is important to "avoid
disproportionate elements that could compromise the decor, such as small
chandeliers and wall lights ."

Lighting needs to be selective to make the most of the large space. "A good option is to use high-luminous flux lamps suitable for greater heights, such as
AR111 or PAR38 , which can be recessed or surface-mounted," recommends the architect.
(Romulo Fialdini/CASACOR)
The architect recommends using wall lights on the walls. As an auxiliary option to contribute to the decoration, there are several options for
lampshades, floor lamps or even an indirect lighting effect with LED panels or strips.

In the kitchen, the double-height ceiling also
allows for more cabinets and storage space for items and decorative elements. In addition, it provides greater freshness so that the room does not become stuffy while preparing food.
Another option to bring more elegance to double-height spaces is to opt for a
long floor-to-ceiling curtain , but some caution is required, especially when it comes to
controlling the interior lighting . For Letícia, one way to "get around" this is to invest in
home automation to program opening and closing times for the curtain.
