Breathable and external connection projects, balconies have gained prominence in recent years, serving as multifunctional spaces — from outdoor refuge to work corner. With creativity and good choices, they adapt to different sizes and decorative proposals. Among so many balcony styles possible, the challenge is to find one that fits your lifestyle and the architecture of the house.

With that in mind, we present seven balcony styles to inspire different profiles, from the most sophisticated to the most laid-back. In addition to visual ideas, each proposal offers suggestions for materials, furniture, and colors to help bring the concept into practice.

1. Boho Balcony: free and creative soul

With a relaxed atmosphere and handcrafted touch, this style bets on a light mix of textures and cultures. Printed cushions, Moroccan lanterns, hanging plants, and wicker or wooden furniture create a welcoming environment, ideal for those who value the charm of improvisation. Natural fabrics and earth tones complement the look.

2. Minimalist Balcony: fewer elements, more presence

In contemporary balcony styles, minimalism stands out for its silent elegance. The idea here is to keep only the essentials, prioritizing visual comfort and material quality. Light metal structures, straight-lined furniture, and neutral tones compose the space well, with emphasis on the occasional use of plants or sculptures.

3. Tropical Balcony: vacation vibes at home

Vibrant colors, many plants, and wooden or natural fiber furniture set the tone of this proposal. Tropical balconies evoke nature and joy, even in the midst of the city. Bet on species such as palms and banana plants, as well as printed fabrics and ceramic or straw elements to complete the look.

4. Urban Balcony: coziness in the city

Perfect for apartments with a view of the skyline or central areas, this style mixes sophistication and practicality. Contemporary designer furniture, built-in lighting, and a more sober palette (charcoal, black, gray, petroleum blue) define the atmosphere. Structural plants and vertical panels help preserve privacy.

5. Rustic-chic Balcony: naturally elegant

One of the most timeless combinations among balcony styles, the rustic-chic style relies on weathered wood, natural stones, and textured fabrics to create a warm space with sophisticated touches. Iron lanterns, tapestries, and aged-looking furniture give authenticity to the project.
Manuela Senna - Balcony

Manuela Senna - Varanda “Sementes Casa Ferolla”.

6. Color Block Balcony: creativity and boldness

For those who love color, the color block style can be the perfect choice. Intense tones on walls, furniture, or objects create fun and modern contrasts. Orange, royal blue, emerald green, or yellow appear in striking combinations, while the clean furniture balances the composition. Ideal for small spaces that demand personality.
CASACOR Ceará 2014 - Garden of the Northeast. The northeastern vegetation was a source of inspiration for Luciana Mota and Claudia Feijó, in the composition of the garden with various pineapples, sansevierias, and cacti in the flower beds. A choice that is also sustainable, since the species require little water. The porcelain (Parmesa) appears on the floor and on the wall, with the latter bringing the wood-like version of the material. The vertical garden is based on the pre-molded panel (OCS) with plants from Jardineira Paisagismo. The furniture is made of aluminum and nautical ropes (Tidelli). The pendant and the lamp Sol e Chuva (Candela) give the final touch.

7. Zen Balcony: balance and contemplation

Inspired by Japanese design and slow living, this style proposes a space for introspection and calm. Elements like pebbles, bamboo, water fountains, and tatami mats help compose the atmosphere. Soft lighting and neutral tones reinforce the connection with the essential, making the balcony a true personal temple.
