The relationship between fashion and decor is closer than it seems. Both deal with aesthetics, proportion, texture, and narrative, whether on the body or in space. It is no coincidence that many celebrated designers have expanded their creative universes into interior design, furniture and objects. In making this transition, they bring along their own visual codes, resulting in projects that carry a strong identity and, often, a touch of theatricality.

From furniture collections to hotels, and including set designs and iconic pieces, these creators show that style goes far beyond clothing. Below, discover some fashion designers who have also left their mark on decor — with concrete examples that help make this connection tangible.

1. Giorgio Armani

Elegant minimalism is Giorgio Armani's signature — and it translates perfectly into his Armani/Casa line, launched in the 2000s. The Italian designer created a complete collection of furniture, lighting, and decorative objects that reflect his refined aesthetic, with a neutral palette and noble materials. In addition, Armani also brought his eye to hospitality, designing interiors for ventures such as the Armani Hotel in Dubai, where every detail — from the furniture to the textures — follows his sophisticated language.

2. Donatella Versace

At the helm of Versace, Donatella also leads the Versace Home line, known for maximalism and reinterpreted classical references. The brand develops furniture, fabrics, and finishes marked by iconic prints, such as the Medusa and gilded baroque. A striking example is the collaboration with luxury hotels, such as the Palazzo Versace in Australia, where the interiors reflect the label's exuberant universe.

3. Vivienne Westwood

Known for her punk, provocative spirit, Vivienne Westwood also brought her creativity to decor. The British designer collaborated with wallpaper and textile brands, creating prints that blend tradition and rebellion. An interesting example is her partnership with Cole & Son, in which she reinterpreted classic English patterns with an irreverent touch — perfect for projects full of personality.

4. Diane von Furstenberg

Famous for the iconic wrap dress, Diane von Furstenberg also explored interior design with the same boldness as her prints. She created collections for the American retailer Target, including furniture and accessible decorative items, and took part in decorating spaces such as hotel suites and her own residence in New York, where she mixes vibrant colors, art, and vintage pieces.

5. Stella McCartney

Sustainability is the central axis of Stella McCartney's work — and this is reflected in decor as well. The designer has collaborated on interior design projects and store design that prioritize eco-friendly materials and conscientious processes. In her boutiques, for example, the furniture is often developed with certified wood and recycled textiles, creating spaces aligned with her ethical philosophy.

6. Rei Kawakubo

Pieces created by Rei Kawakubo reveal a radical and conceptual design, in which discomfort is part of the experience.

At the helm of Comme des Garçons, Rei Kawakubo is known for her conceptual approach — and this extends to the projects she creates. Her stores around the world are true artistic installations, with set designs that challenge spatial conventions. An iconic example is Dover Street Market, the multi-brand retailer founded by her, where fashion, art, and design mingle in unexpected, experimental layouts.

7. Christian Louboutin

Known worldwide for red-soled shoes, Christian Louboutin also brought his sophisticated, sensual universe to decor. The designer has created interiors for commercial spaces and hospitality projects, in addition to collaborating on set designs and settings that reflect his theatrical aesthetic. A striking example is Hotel Vermelho, in Melides, Portugal, conceived by him, where each project blends art, local craftsmanship, and eclectic references — translating the same glamour and daring present in his fashion creations into the world of interiors.
