6 creative uses of glass at CASA COR Minas 2015

This year, one of the highlights of CASA COR Minas 2015 was the use of mirrors and glass: from those that integrate a room with its surroundings to an entire house made of the material.

In addition to being versatile, glass allows architects and designers to express their talent in different ways. The material filters heat entering environments by up to 70% and reduces the incidence of UV rays by almost 100%, in addition to controlling the passage of noise.

Check out six glass solutions from the Minas Gerais exhibition to inspire you and use them in your home too!

In Box 16 , by Felipe Soares, glass is used to integrate the interior with the exterior. The space, designed to be a vacation home, offers a beautiful and relaxing view of the landscape. The highlight of the use of glass is the pivoting doors at both ends of the container. The idea is that they direct ventilation in a cross-direction, creating a pleasant environment.

In the Bathroom , designed by Cristina Morethson and Ângelo Coelho, glass is present in many ways: from the ceiling to the floor. Inside the room, the material is used as a shower enclosure and in the window, integrated with a steel structure. Outside, it is present in the Pergola roof and in a bridge that integrates the two external sides of the room.

In Hugo Gomes' Café , the bronze mirror creates an atmosphere of refinement and sophistication that a normal mirror would not be able to. The material adds subtlety to the lighting and enhances the Café's cozy atmosphere. There is also tempered glass in the room that serves as a divider.

When you think of a shipping container, it's hard to imagine the integration of glass with a space made entirely of metal. However, Juliana Lima and Bruna Bonfante managed to combine the material very well with their space, the Container Office . The glass from the Habitat line separates the container from its external area and also serves as a heat and UV filter, keeping the environment at a pleasant temperature.

In Ivana Seabra's home office , the mirror is used at an unusual level. Instead of being at eye level, it is placed below the bookshelf. Along with special lighting, the mirror has a function that goes beyond vanity; it serves to reflect light and add a special charm to the space.

Without a doubt, the most innovative use of glass indoors is the Glass House , a space by Cristina Menezes. That's exactly what you read: an entire house made entirely of glass. There are 60 m² of Habitat Reflective glass, which insulates 70% of the heat and 100% of the UV rays, keeping all the furniture protected from the effects of the sun and creating a pleasant ambiance. In addition, the material also provides privacy for those inside the house: you can see the outside, but the outside cannot clearly see what's happening inside. Another highlight is the way it was built: modularly, without welding and with screws. This facilitates the mobility of the work, which can be disassembled and reassembled anywhere else.
