Érica Salguero Architecture - Solitude Space. Architect and interior designer Érica Salguero invites visitors of her 66 m² loft to disconnect from the world, in an exercise of introspection and contemplation. Marble, leather, and wood appear among the many textures of the projects and gain prominence due to the rich lighting design. "The name Solitude symbolizes a period of self-discovery, reflection, and connection with nature. It is a mental state in which the individual is at peace with themselves, even when alone," says Érica, in her sixth participation in the showcase.

The living room is usually the most versatile space in the house. It is where we receive friends, relax after a full day, and often even work or study.

That's why it is important that this projects be not only functional but also warm and inviting. Creating a cozy living room does not require major renovations or large investments: with some decoration adjustments and good choices of materials and colors, it is possible to completely transform the atmosphere of the projects .

The sense of welcome is linked to visual, tactile, and even olfactory stimuli. Pleasant textures to the touch, soft tones, and strategic lighting make all the difference. Furthermore, the layout and distribution of furniture also impact comfort. A living room where everything flows naturally, without visual or physical obstacles, becomes automatically more enjoyable to be in.

1. Choose a soft and inviting color palette

The colors have the power to transform the projects and influence our mood. In cozier living rooms, neutral tones, earthy or nature-inspired tones—like beige, olive green, and bluish-gray—help create a calming atmosphere. Very cool or very bright colors, like pure white, tend to make the space feel more impersonal.

You can use neutral tones as a base and include variations in decorative objects, like pillows, pictures, or throws. Another idea is to invest in finishes that bring color and texture, like wallpaper or wood panels. The important thing is to maintain visual harmony and seek a sense of warmth.

2. Invest in indirect and varied lighting

Para dar vida e personalidade ao ambiente de 189 m² escolheu peças com referências em memórias afetivas e em tendências contemporâneas. The lighting is essential to define the mood of the living room. To make it cozier, it is ideal to avoid very strong or cold lights. Prefer lamps with yellowish bulbs, and whenever possible, use indirect lighting to soften the projects . Table lamps, wall sconces, and floor lamps are great allies.

Having different light points also allows you to adapt the projects according to the moment—brighter for reading, softer for relaxing. Furthermore, you can highlight objects or corners with LED strips, creating pleasant scenes. Well-distributed light transforms the projects and invites you to stay longer there.

3. Bet on fabrics, rugs, and textures

The touch also influences the sense of comfort, which is why fabrics are fundamental. Sofas with soft fabrics, fluffy throws, linen or velvet pillows, and thick rugs create layers that invite relaxation. These elements transform the space visually and sensorially.

Combining different textures makes the projects more interesting and welcoming. A plain sofa gains new life with patterned pillows; a rug can warm the floor and define the seating area. By varying the weaves and materials, the living room gains depth and a cozy look without losing elegance.

4. Use natural elements and plants in decoration

Natural elements bring the projects closer to nature, which increases the feeling of well-being. Wood, fibers such as straw and wicker, stones, and ceramics bring texture and a more organic aesthetic. These materials visually warm the living room and make the space more inviting.

The plants are also great allies: in addition to being decorative, they help improve air quality and create a livelier atmosphere. Species like pothos, pacová, or zamioculca adapt well to indoor projects . Even well-chosen dried or permanent arrangements can bring that natural touch to the décor.

5. Personalize with memories and emotional objects

A living room only truly becomes cozy when it carries the identity of those who live in it. Emotional objects — such as photographs, travel souvenirs, books, and pictures with sentimental value — make the projects more authentic and warm. They tell stories and create connections with those who visit the projects .

These elements can be carefully integrated into the decor: a shelf with cherished items, a wall with well-distributed photos, or a console with handmade pieces. The idea is to personalize without excess, balancing memories and aesthetic for a comfortable and meaningful projects .
