Created by Mike White, the series
The White Lotus, from HBO, is set in its third season at three luxury resorts located in
Thailand. The establishments are part of the
Anantara network and showcase stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and the impressive architecture of the country. Each of the establishments presented embodies the essence of life on the Thai islands, from the serene beaches of
Koh Samui to the hidden luxury of the coast of
Phuket. Check out a bit about each of them!
Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort
Located along the untouched beaches of
Bophut Beach, the
Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort is one of the most iconic resorts on the island. Various areas of the property appear in The White Lotus Thailand, including the Thai-style lobby, the tree-lined entrance of the resort, the staff parking lot, the resort's jewelry store, and the security area. Built on a site that was once a coconut plantation, the resort features spectacular landscaping, including lotus lakes and a spa garden, designed by renowned architect
Bill Bensley. With architecture inspired by the heritage of southern Thailand, the resort offers an authentic Thai hospitality experience on the island.
Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort
Set on a private beach in
Chaweng, the
Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort masterfully combines modern luxury with the rich cultural history of
Samui. One of the most striking locations in the third season of The White Lotus is the
Singing Bird Lounge, a spectacular treehouse-style bar built in the branches of a 120-year-old tree. This space was the main filming location for the bar scenes. With panoramic ocean views, the lounge is inspired by the island's traditional bird singing competitions, an event that attracts thousands of spectators. As guests enjoy handcrafted cocktails at sunset, the sounds of the birds from Samui create an unforgettable atmosphere.
Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas
Also featured in the third season, the
Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas was chosen as the setting for the
Wellness Sanctuary, Spa, and Belinda's Room. Located on the untouched sands of
Mai Khao Beach, in
Phuket, this tranquil retreat is known for its exclusivity and luxury. With 183 villas and suites and a prime beachfront location, the Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas offers an environment of privacy and sophistication.
