In the week of World Book Day (April 23), São Paulo gets a special program: Noite das Livrarias. In an edition that spreads across several neighborhoods and connects the capital to other cities in the country, the event proposes an experience that invites people to occupy the city at night with readings, gatherings, and small collective celebrations.

With free programming, independent bookstores and major chains extend their opening hours and become meeting points. The idea is simple: to bring readers, authors, and the curious together in a less formal project, where there is room for everything from saraus and book clubs to themed parties, workshops, and conversations about contemporary literature.

More than 40 addresses in São Paulo join the program, which will take place on Thursday, April 23, starting at 6 PM. Below, check out a list of the confirmed bookstores and don't miss the chance to take part in the events closest to you!

Livraria Megafauna

In the heart of Copan, the bookstore is betting on a dramatic reading of Hamlet starting at 6 PM, turning a classic into a collective experience. Address: Av. Ipiranga, 200 - loja 53 - Centro Histórico de São Paulo.

Livraria da Vila

One of the city's best-known chains joins the circuit with poetry battles, such as Slam das Minas on Avenida Paulista from 7 PM to 8 PM. And on Fradique Coutinho, the bookstore hosts a dramatic reading with Clarice Niskier in “A Esperança na Caixa de Chicletes Ping Pong" from 7 PM to 7:50 PM.

  • Av. Paulista, 1063 - Jardim Paulista.

  • R. Fradique Coutinho, 915 - Vila Madalena.

Livraria Gráfica

Known for its experimental profile, it proposes a collective silent reading. The idea is to turn the intimate act of reading into a shared experience within the space. From 7 PM at: Rua Barão de Tatuí, 509, Santa Cecília.

Banca Tatuí

It shares an address with Gráfica and expands the program into the visual field: a screen-printing workshop with glow-in-the-dark inks, starting at 6 PM, at Rua Barão de Tatuí, 275, Santa Cecília.

Tapera Taperá

One of the most active spaces downtown takes part with its already characteristic blend of literature, arts, and gatherings. The program follows the house's line, with a meeting of women authors at 6 PM and the conversation "Who controls the narrative when everything is algorithm," with Magô Pool and Rodrigo Carneiro at 7:30 PM.

Aigo Livros

The neighborhood of Bom Retiro joins the circuit with a conversation “Immigrants and the production of space in Bom Retiro,” with researcher Anat Falbel and architect-urbanists Jung Yun Chi and Gabriel Neistein at 7 PM. At Rua Ribeiro de Lima, 453, loja 73 - Bom Retiro.

La Librería

The bookstore is betting on an open sarau, bringing together original texts, poetry, and music by authors and regulars. There will also be the launch of the project “Campos Elíseos is my place,” which brings together stories from neighborhood residents that help bring the place to life.
