Directed and written by Carine Wallauer, the documentary 'Copan' is set in the building that is a landmark of Brazilian modern architecture located in the center of São Paulo, designed by Oscar Niemeyer and completed in 1960. The narrative of the feature film is based on two tensions that occur simultaneously: the presidential elections of 2022 and the elections for the building's manager. Wallauer, who lived in the building for seven years, found in Copan the opportunity to observe the daily life of residents and staff while themes such as democracy, urban life, and power unfolded in two different spheres, directly impacting people. In other words, the microstructures of the building reveal, through the singularities of each person, the political macrostructure that permeates the space where the architectural work is situated. The film premiered on April 8 during the 30th International Documentary Festival - "It's all true."
