In February, highlights include the exhibitions "Flávio Cerqueira - A Sculptor of Meanings" at the CCBB, and "Dan Lie: Letting Go" at the Pinacoteca. Dan Lie presents the installation "Letting Go" in the Octagon of the Pinacoteca Luz, in dialogue with the monumental scale of the space. Using organic materials such as plants, bacteria, fungi, and decomposing matter, the work offers a sensory experience in constant transformation, with cycles of life and death perceptible at each visit. "Flávio Cerqueira - a sculptor of meanings" - CCBB


Flávio Cerqueira celebrates 15 years of career with an unprecedented retrospective at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil São Paulo. His figurative bronze sculptures, which capture narrative moments and invite the public to complete the stories, are the focus of the exhibition. The show, which covers his entire trajectory, is curated by Lilia Schwarcz and brings together works by the artist present in important museums in Brazil and abroad.

Thomaz Farkas, TODOMUNDO - Instituto Moreira Salles


Thomaz Farkas, photographer, businessman, and filmmaker, left a remarkable legacy on the Brazilian cultural scene. The exhibition "Thomaz Farkas, todomundo" at the Instituto Moreira Salles celebrates the centenary of the artist with about 500 items, including photographs, films, and documents, exploring his inclusive and collaborative trajectory. Divided into axes, it highlights documentary series such as Brasil Verdade and A Condição Brasileira, as well as films like Todomundo and Subterrâneos do Futebol, reflecting his warm view of Brazil. The show recreates Farkas' collective spirit, evidenced in his artistic production, cultural encouragement, and the foundation of the Galeria Fotoptica.

Ney Matogrosso - MIS


The exhibition "Ney Matogrosso", opening on February 21, presents a chronological journey of the artist's career, from his debut with the group "Secos & Molhados" to his album "Naked with my music". Divided into six areas, the exhibition includes costumes, props, documents, album covers, posters, and CDs, as well as excerpts from an interview with Ney and iconic photographs from various phases, featuring works by Madalena Schwartz, Thereza Eugênia, Ary Brandi, and Daryan Dornelles.

Renata Lucas: Sunday in the park - Pinacoteca


In Sunday in the park, Renata Lucas radicalizes her work by intervening in the Pina Estação and its surroundings. On the facade, a sign displays "Tomorrow there is no fair", an excerpt from Gilberto Gil, visible only from the square. Already at Largo General Osório, a circle with a radius of 6.4 meters is cut out, simulating a counterclockwise turn that intertwines sidewalk and garden, evoking the Ferris wheel mentioned in the song.

The life that reveals itself - Japan House


The exhibition "The life that reveals itself", held for the first time in Brazil, occupies the second floor of Japan House São Paulo, in collaboration with the KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival, one of the most important photography events since its creation in Kyoto in 2013. The show features four series of photographs by Rinko Kawauchi (1972) and Tokuko Ushioda (1940), which depict family moments and the intimacy of their homes in Japan. LGBTQIA+ Stories - MASP


The exhibition LGBTQIA+ Stories at MASP reflects on the global inequality faced by queer and trans people, contrasting advances in visibility with persistent repressions. Divided into eight nuclei, it brings together works by artists and activists who explore identity, desire, and spirituality, also addressing the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Ballad Above the Abyss - Teatro-D-Jaraguá


The show Ballad Above the Abyss, premiered in Paris in 2022, gets its first Brazilian version for the reopening of Teatro D-Jaraguá. The play starring Maria Fernanda Cândido and directed by Gonzaga Pedrosa blends literature and music while exploring the universe of Clarice Lispector.
