A travel itinerary to enjoy the Northern Lights around the world
One of the most famous gifts of nature in the world, the Aurora Borealis are known as the " northern lights " because, as the name suggests, they are observed especially in northern countries such as Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Alaska, Scotland, Greenland, Russia and Canada. This year, experts believe the lights will be even more intense and will be visible from other parts of the world. The reason for this is a more intense solar storm that causes the auroras to appear much further south than usual.

Where to see the Northern Lights?

The region where the phenomenon can be observed is called the " auroral zone ". It is not a delimited space; in fact, it varies throughout the year, depending on solar storms. Experts at the US Meteorological Institute firmly believe that some regions of the country should be treated to the wonderful visual of the Northern Lights, from the south to the lower Midwest, which are made up of regions such as Provo, Utah; Boulder, Colorado; north of Indianapolis; and Columbus, Ohio – but this should not be set in stone.

For those who want to plan to see the phenomenon, the best option is to plan your itinerary in more specific countries. Canada, for example, is one of the most recommended countries, especially in Eldmont, Fort Murray, Yellowknife, Whitehorse, Churchill and Athabasca .
Norway is another popular destination for those who want to enjoy the Northern Lights and other natural wonders. Tromsø , known as the "Paris of the North", is a favorite spot for a good view of the lights.

Finally, another great destination to enjoy the auroras is Iceland , especially for those who want to stay further away from the big cities. In Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon , 250 km from the capital, the frozen waters reflect the lights and create a memorable view.

The light show becomes more powerful from September until April . In Canada, there is a break from November to February – which doesn't mean you can't see them, but they will be less intense.
