Avenida Paulista, the cultural and urban hub of São Paulo, is preparing to welcome a new and imposing chapter in its architectural landscape. Itaú Cultural has officially announced the development of its new headquarters, with opening scheduled for 2031. Far from being just a conventional exhibition space, the project is designed as a monumental vertical cultural center of 19 floors, strategically located in front of one of the exits of the Trianon-Masp subway station.
Located at number 1,267 of the avenue, the future building will occupy a position flanked by the Fiesp Cultural Center, and just a few minutes' walk from MASP.
Itaú Cultural is already a widely recognized space among São Paulo residents, and the new project aims to bring even more prominence. To that end, they selected Estúdio Módulo, led by architects Marcus Vinicius Damon, Guilherme Bavin, and Erica Tomasoni, after a rigorous closed competition involving six renowned Brazilian firms, to take on the project.

In total, there will be 12,000 sqm of built area distributed across 19 floors: 11 above ground level and 8 underground floors. The visitor experience will unfold along 14 floor axes (from the 6th basement to the 8th floor), totaling 2,600 sqm entirely dedicated to exhibitions, performances, and artistic occupations.

Each floor was planned to meet specific demands of modern curatorship. An entire 360 sqm floor will exclusively house the revered exhibitions of the Ocupação Itaú Cultural series, dedicated to honoring the great names of Brazilian artistic history.
Additionally, two entire floors will host large temporary exhibitions, while three floors will be reserved for the permanent display of the valuable Brasiliana Itaú collection, a deep dive into the country's iconographic and documentary memory.
Among the major architectural and structural highlights of the project is the new theater, designed with a capacity for more than 400 seats. The space will feature a versatile Italian stage, whose engineering will allow rapid reconfiguration into various formats — such as arena, Elizabethan, semi-arena, or black box.

In addition to the main theater, the building will feature an amphitheater with approximately 100 seats aimed at public debates, classes, seminars, and pocket shows, two state-of-the-art multimedia studios, rooms designated for academic and artistic training, a concept store, and a refined restaurant-café, promoting the audience's stay and interaction.

The victory in the competition for the new Paulista headquarters adds to a robust history of market recognition, totaling 32 awards and nominations since the studio's founding, in addition to 17 previous distinctions obtained by the partners.

The group's portfolio brings together milestones of major national and international impact, such as first place in the International Competition for the Rio-Africa Cultural Center, in Rio de Janeiro (won in 2024 and endorsed with the Gold Prize at the IAI Design Award 2025 and the Architecture Hunter Awards 2025).
The expertise in developing highly complex corporate and public-use spaces has also been celebrated in projects such as the Oscar 2525 Building (winner of a closed competition for Idea!Zarvos in 2021), the Ágora UNI Building — finalist for the Building of the Year award by ArchDaily World in 2025 —, the Ágora Tech Park Masterplan, widely awarded by IAB, and the National Public Competition of Ideas for Urban Furniture Elements of São Paulo, won in 2016.
