Spending a night in a museum is every art lover's dream. Even better when the room has a
luxurious and welcoming design , and the project is signed by one of the great names in French design, such as
Mathieu Lehanneur , the designer responsible for designing the Paris Olympic torch and cauldron. Lehanneur transformed the
clock room at the Musée D'Orsay in Paris into a bedroom so he could receive guests for a single night. The date couldn't be better:
July 26 , the day of the opening ceremony of the
Paris Olympic Games .
“I created a unique space that is at once
romantic and contemporary, intimate yet luxurious ,” says Lehanneur, who furnished the room with her go-to designs, including curvaceous 'Familyscape' sofas and 'Trinity' side tables. The
highlight is the lighting , which makes it appear as if the bed is floating above the floor.
“I wanted to combine opposites to create a place that was at once intimate and monumental, historic but firmly contemporary,” says Lehanneur. Anyone dreaming of spending the night at the Musée D'Orsay should plan as soon as possible:
accommodation is now available on Airbnb , and can be rented
