Recognized for its gastronomic diversity, São Paulo has established itself as one of the main culinary hubs in the country. The city brings together cuisines from different origins, various techniques, and proposals ranging from classic to experimental. This richness is a result of the presence of multiple cultures that helped shape the Paulist identity over the centuries.

In the 472 years of São Paulo, celebrated on January 25, this diversity is revealed even more clearly in the restaurants and bars scattered throughout the city capable of surprising both visitors and residents alike. To mark the occasion, some locations are preparing special dishes and highlighted actions that showcase the gastronomic variety that defines the capital. Check it out below!

NOU

The NOU restaurant bets on a democratic menu across its three locations. With a relaxed environment and generous servings, this place is a good option for both a laid-back lunch and a special occasion. Especially for the 472nd anniversary of São Paulo, the restaurant has prepared Picadinho de Mignon, served with rice, black beans, banana farofa, and collard greens, a classic of Paulist cuisine.

A Pizza da Mooca

Considered among the best in the world, A Pizza da Mooca is a Paulist reference in Neapolitan style. Run by chef Fellipe Zanuto, it combines Italian tradition with artisanal ingredients and authorial touches. For this occasion, there are two novelties: the Pizza Cacio e Pepe, with pecorino cheese fondue and black pepper essence, and to honor the city, the Sundae, which includes chocolate sauce, two scoops of milk gelato, and cannoli, finished with a cherry.

Lanchonete da Cidade

A reference for sandwiches in the capital since 2004, Lanchonete da Cidade is entering a new phase. From the motto “more diner than ever”, it features a revamped look, new dishes, and a renewed essence. On the capital's anniversary, the house will serve the Paulistinha, a classic hot dog with sauce, crispy potatoes, mustard, ketchup, and vinaigrette, but enhanced with mashed potatoes very Paulist style! Other well-Paulist options can also be enjoyed, such as the Churrasquinho, which includes flank steak with melted cheese, grilled onion, and vinaigrette on ciabatta; and the Amarelinho, the house version of x-egg, made with Palmyra cheese, fried egg in butter, mayonnaise, and ripened tomato on Bossa Nova French bread.

Hospedaria

The restaurant of chef Fellipe Zanuto pays tribute to Paulist cuisine with influences from Italian immigrants. On the menu, traditional recipes gain an authorial touch and plenty of personality. On this date, the chef's suggestion is the portion of Pastéis de Feira (a city classic!), with stewed meat and boiled egg, shrimp cream, or mixed. The portions come with four units, all accompanied by vinaigrette. For the main dish, there is the Grelhadinho Paulistano de Fraldinha, served with biro-biro rice, corn farofa with bacon, fair vinaigrette, and potato mayonnaise.

For the city's anniversary, the restaurant has prepared a special drink which will enter the menu starting on the 25th. The Orange Fizz is a smooth and refreshing drink with vodka, triple sec, orange juice, passion fruit puree, lemon, and orange bitter. To accompany the novelty, the suggestion is the Tomahawk, the famous Flintstones steak, served with fries, crispy onions, and chimichurri.

Bar Original

Opened almost three decades ago, Bar Original has inspired an entire generation of bars in São Paulo. This is partly due to the draft beer, but the kitchen is also noteworthy, with its traditional snacks. On this date, the house will offer the Estadão Pork Sandwich, the Original Coxinha, and the Bolovo.
