A couple with three children bought this
duplex penthouse of
600 m² overlooking the
Baía de Todos os Santos, in Salvador (BA), with the intention of making a complete renovation. Architect
David Bastos, from the DB Arquitetos office and the CASACOR Bahia cast, was called not only to assist the family in choosing the property but also to create the renovation and decoration project as soon as the deal was closed.
"
The clients requested a very spacious and comfortable living area, integrated with the external spaces, to have the feeling of living with their children in a house", says David.
With the renovation,
the original staircase was redone (with a helicoidal metal structure covered in natural wood and White marble steps) and repositioned, and the
social areas of the upper floor were fully integrated (including the former
balcony).
To make the living area even more spacious, the
master suite was enlarged (now with a closet and
bathroom for him and her) and relocated to the lower floor, where there are three more suites with closets.
"We installed floor-to-ceiling sliding windows between the internal and external areas of the upper floor that allow total integration between the living area and terrace. At the back of the pool, we designed a gazebo to shelter the
gourmet space, with movable wooden screens on the walls to control natural lighting and ventilation," details the architect.
In the decoration of the social area, in a contemporary style, with the exception of the chairs from the game table and some decorative items the clients brought from their previous address, everything is new. "
We prioritized imported furniture in predominantly neutral tones and slimmer proportions so as not to overshadow the view of the sea, which is the main asset of the property," explains David.
Regarding the color palette, the architect adopted a
base in neutral tones and used colors punctually, such as the armchair and chairs in a mixed fabric of purple and pink, the cushions and the back of the shelving in the living area in terracotta, and the blue furniture in the outdoor area. The flooring of the social area and the edge of the pool are made of white marble, while the woodwork panels on the walls and ceiling are made of light grayish wood.
