In just three months, architect
Fernanda Medeiros – from the
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro lineup – transformed the living room and home office of an
apartment in
Ipanema (RJ) into a functional, cozy, and sophisticated refuge, with integrated spaces, an inspiring home office, design pieces, and custom solutions.

The home of lawyer couple Emilia and Paulo and their two dogs, Ben and Belina, had a mission: to be a dwelling that reflected the family's personality, was cozy in everyday life, and perfect for receiving friends.

Originally, the
living room was practically empty with an L-shaped sofa that compromised circulation. Part of the piece was kept in the living room and the other was relocated to the home office, creating a fluid and functional layout. The result: a cozy space, ideal for relaxing or hosting friends for a nice dinner.

"One of the couple's requests was for a comfortable home office that combined design and practicality. The result was so pleasing that the residents decided to create a second multifunctional space, which also serves as a
guest room,” Fernanda adds. "Working from home has become a pleasure. The home office has completely transformed our routine," comments resident Emilia.

Passionate about good wines, the clients also requested a custom wine cabinet. The piece, besides being functional, became one of the highlights of the project, combining sophistication and personality.

To create a sophisticated and cozy setting, Fernanda worked with a palette of materials and finishes that balance warmth, comfort, and practicality, such as natural wood present in the custom furniture finished with freijó veneer; the original floor maintained in ipe hardwood planks with a polished finish. To soften the shine, rugs were added that provide texture and coziness.

The lighting project became cozy with the replacement of white bulbs with yellow lights, in addition to the use of pendants and decorative lamps that create strategic light points, highlighting furniture and artworks.

The apartment gained a sophisticated air with selected designer furniture pieces; artworks and paintings by
Marco Figueiredo, Nica Kessler, Ari Kaye and Tomaz Velho and exclusive model rugs for the living room. "With transformations in the layout and custom solutions, the project, executed in just three months, restructured the main projects to serve the couple's new lifestyle – and even the wrongly purchased sofa ended up becoming the protagonist of a creative solution," says the architect.
