Pieces by Jader Almeida, Niemeyer, and Moooi star in a 340 m² apartment

This project designed by the architect Lara Linhares – from the CASACOR Ceará lineup – in the Meireles neighborhood, in Fortaleza, reveals a profound transformation of a apartment of 340 m², originally purchased off-plan in 2017. The renovation, recently delivered to a couple with a young child, was comprehensive and involved everything from replacing all finishes and an electrical overhaul to a strategic redesign of the floor plan. The main technical challenge was integrating the hall, the balcony and the living room into a large and continuous living area, in addition to creating a new suite and converting a circulation area into a functional home office.

The renovation was comprehensive, involving the replacement of flooring, finishes, an electrical overhaul, and the meticulous redesign of the projects. The greatest challenge lay precisely in these integrations. “A meticulous technical study was necessary to understand the possibilities and constraints imposed by the building’s structure. From there, we developed intelligent solutions that would ensure continuity between spaces without compromising safety or aesthetics,” explains Lara Linhares.

The concept stemmed from a desire for contemporary, welcoming, well-resolved projects, balancing aesthetics, comfort, and everyday practicality. The clients sought a project with a careful curation of furniture and objects, capable of imparting personality to the spaces without sacrificing the family’s needs. At the same time, they gave the architect carte blanche, granting broad freedom to interpret and translate, in an authentic way, the essence of her studio.

The color palette was conceived intentionally, exploring the contrast between the restrained and the clean to create an elegant, timeless atmosphere. Raw Roman travertine marble, present throughout the flooring and repeated on some pillars, beams, and walls, brings luminosity and organic sophistication. The Caravaggio wood finish, applied to panels, the living room shelving, and the wine cellar, adds depth and warmth. In the kitchen, metallic stainless-steel cabinetry reinforces the contemporary language. “Together, these elements build a balanced atmosphere full of identity,” the architect highlights.

All the decor was acquired especially for the project, focusing on a timeless curation that combines contemporary design with bolder lines, reinforcing the identity of the ensemble. The furniture curation is one of the highlights of the residence, bringing together iconic pieces of national and international design acquired exclusively for the property. Designer Jader Almeida is the main protagonist, with pieces such as the Celine armchair, the Bossa chair, and the Air bench scattered throughout the projects. The project also pays homage to modernism with the Rio chaise by Oscar Niemeyer in the hall, and explores bold strokes with items from the Dutch brand Moooi and from Brazilian names such as Roberta Banqueri and Leo Romano. In the field of art, the work “Epicentro,” by Jacqueline Terpins, emerges as a focal point.
