Paula Neder opens the doors of her revamped apartment in Leblon

After more than two decades living in the same apartment in Leblon (RJ), architect Paula Neder, leading the office PN + | Paula Neder and part of the cast of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro, decided to adapt the property to her new moment in life: with her children grown and out of the house, she opted for a complete renovation to adjust it to her current routine, alongside her two pets – the dog Lola and the cat Olavo.

The property, which carries memories since 1998, when Paula moved in with her three small children, underwent a complete makeover. With 150 m², the residence gained new life with more open projects and a décor that reflects the essence and values of its resident. One of the highlights was the integration of the balcony to the living room, creating a more generous gathering space, filled with natural elements.

The color palette used reinforces this connection with nature, with earthy and green tones appearing in furniture, decorations, and objects. "My home reflects my way of living, always close to nature," comments Paula, who follows a vegan lifestyle. Near the living room windows, a set of plants merges with the treetops of the street and frames the privileged view of Morro Dois Irmãos.

The project is also filled with artworks, many of them with sentimental value: creations from friends or pieces acquired over the years, which now occupy not only the walls but also the niches and shelves of a large green bookshelf. In the dining room, the highlight is a tile mural created by the artistic collective MUDA — a group that her son is part of — illustrating a sunset in geometric shapes.

The changes in the layout were not restricted to the social projects. Paula redesigned the original plan to make better use of all the rooms. Where there were once two suites, one bedroom and one common bathroom, there are now three suites and a small lavatory. "I transformed the social bathroom into a new suite and used part of it to create a compact lavatory," she explains.

The master bedroom, reserved for Paula, was decorated in soft colors that convey calm and comfort. The space also features a multifunctional workspace under the window, where she works and teaches classes. One of the former bedrooms became a guest room, while the third was specially prepared to welcome the grandchildren, frequent visitors to the house.

One of the most interesting aspects of the project is the creative use of repurposed elements from projects signed by the architect at CASACOR. The kitchen, for example, integrated a Studio presented at the exhibition and gained new life in the apartment. Additionally, pieces that were already part of the property were restored and adapted to fit the new proposal. "This principle aligns with the idea of always creating something original, but with attention to repurposing and sustainability," Paula explains.
