Located in the Belvedere neighborhood of Belo Horizonte, this apartment of 328 sq m is the testament to a long-standing partnership between the office Dubal Arquitetura e Design, led by Marina Dubal (from the CASACOR Minas Gerais lineup), and the residents. With the children growing up, the challenge was to transpose the family's history into a larger property, creating a home that would be, at the same time, a contemporary retreat and a gallery for their collection of art and heirloom furniture.

The premise of the project was efficiency: to promote a profound transformation with minimal civil renovation. The solution was the replacement of the original hall wall with a monumental panel of natural walnut veneer. This element not only organizes the flows, but invisibly camouflages the accesses to the kitchen, wine cellar, powder room and a new home office, created from an intelligent use of the original floor plan.

"The key to the project is the large joinery panel. It organizes the flow and creates a visual continuity throughout the social area, balancing the freshness of the white marble floor with the warmth of the wood", explains Marina Dubal.

The selection of materials bets on sensory contrast. While the Rough Navona Travertine covers the walls of the living and TV rooms with its elegant rusticity, luxury manifests itself in the details, such as the basin sculpted from a solid block of Paraná Macchia Oro Marble in the new vanity.

In the furniture, iconic pieces, such as the Mucki bench by Sérgio Rodrigues and the Mole armchair, coexist in harmony with the contemporary style of Jader Almeida (Ella chairs) and Juliana Vasconcellos (Espaldar armchairs). Items from the former address, such as the Twiggy lamp by Foscarini, were also incorporated.

In addition to the integrated and fluid social area, the project reserved spaces for technical and aesthetic seclusion. The wine cellar, clad in bush-hammered Bege Bahia Marble, works as a visual invitation right at the entrance, while the kitchen received specific updates, such as the illuminated niche in Kouros quartzite.
