The new phase of life, with the arrival of their first child, was the starting point for the couple to commission architects
Izabela Lessa and Fernanda Zanetta (from
LessaZanetta Arquitetura and the
CASACOR Rio team) to radically renovate their
apartment of 156 m², in Ipanema.

"To have a greater sense of spaciousness, the couple asked that the entire
sala was integrated. So the existing balcony was joined to the living room, creating a more fluid social area," says Izabela.

Another significant change was the transformation of the old office into a baby suite. To replace it, a
new room was designed that functions both as a home office and as an extension of the living room and has sliding doors that can be hidden in a panel.

Even the
entrance hall received special treatment, with freijó cladding on the walls and ceiling. The lacquer cabinetry in the dining room includes a sideboard and a bar, also hidden by a mirrored sliding door.

In the décor, neutral tones predominate, with emphasis on the use of raw travertine and freijó, which help to create a timeless atmosphere. "The
existing pillars, which could not be removed, were covered with burnt cement, while the exposed water pipes were covered with corten steel sheeting. This ensured that the technical details of the construction had a refined aesthetic, in line with the apartment," adds Izabela.

Work by artists such as
Beatriz Milhazes, Bechara and
Erika Verzutti add a contemporary touch to the space and were enhanced by a lighting project by
EstudioArq that creates a cozy atmosphere at night. The blue rug contrasts subtly with the neutral elements of the space.

Iconic pieces of design such as the Memory Lamp by
Jader Almeida, the Mole Armchair, the Sônia Bench and the Kilin Armchair by
Sergio Rodrigues and the Maria Preciosa coffee table, by
Etel Carmona, added charm to the project.
